How to choose ribbon

1. What kind of printer is it used on?
In the thermal transfer printing mode, the carbon ribbon and the label paper are consumed synchronously in the length direction. In terms of the width direction, the width of the carbon ribbon should be greater than or equal to the width of the label paper, and smaller than the maximum printing width of the printer. Due to the different physical dimensions of each printer, the maximum paper roll length that can be loaded and the maximum width that can be printed are also different. In addition, the working temperature of the print head and the sensitivity characteristics of the ribbon will also have a great impact on the final printing effect.

2. What surface to hit
Generally speaking, the surface of coated paper is relatively rough, and it should be used with wax-based or mixed-based ribbons; while the surface of PET paper is relatively smooth, it should be used with resin-based ribbons.

3. Desired graphics durability
If you want the printed label content to have better durability, you should choose resin-based ribbon.

4. Affordable cost
Generally speaking, the cost of wax-based ribbons is the lowest, followed by the cost of mixed-based ribbons, and the cost of resin-based ribbons is the highest.

5. The scratch resistance of the label
Scratch resistance, smear resistance, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, etc. If the label may be frequently rubbed against scratches, smears, corrosion resistance, and high temperature resistance, the label needs to have strong scratch resistance.
